David Webster became a writer for The Saturday Evening Post and Wall Street Journal, and later wrote a book about sharks. In 1961, he went out on the ocean alone, and was never seen again.

Lasting nearly a decade, Tyrone would be handled by Zanuck as an old-style movie star, playing everything from remakes of old Fairbanks and Valentino films to Jesse James. Tyrone never once protested. He respected Zanuck and there was a deep well of gratitude in him for what his boss was doing for him. He was given a chauffeured limousine, although unless he was too tired, he preferred driving himself. He was given access to the executive steam room, almost the only actor so honored.
