Lasting nearly a decade, Tyrone would be handled by Zanuck as an old-style movie star, playing everything from remakes of old Fairbanks and Valentino films to Jesse James. Tyrone never once protested. He respected Zanuck and there was a deep well of gratitude in him for what his boss was doing for him. He was given a chauffeured limousine, although unless he was too tired, he preferred driving himself. He was given access to the executive steam room, almost the only actor so honored.
It became clear to everyone at Twentieth Century-Fox that just as Nunnally Johnson was Zanuck’s most-favored writer and Henry King was his most-favored director, Tyrone Power was now indisputably, his most-favored star.
